Morris Kulmer Captures World Championship Title in Reining at the 2017 AQHA Select World Championship Show

Unknown-3The American Quarter Horse Association, Amarillo – Morris Kulmer of Bountiful, Utah, captured the world championship title and reserve world championship title in reining at the 2017 AQHA Select World Championship Show, presented by Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan), on August 28 in Amarillo.

Kulmer won the world championship title with his American Quarter Horse Chics Dream. The palomino gelding, sired by Magnum Chic Dream and out of First Ex Flame, was bred by Nancy Wilkerson-Ditty of Ocala, Florida.

In the reining class, 52 entries competed for world champion honors and a purse of $7,280. World champions received a prize package that included a custom-designed gold trophy; Montana Silversmiths sterling-silver belt buckle with 14-karat-gold overlay; specially designed logoed jacket, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear; neck wreath; a ribbon; and 100 pounds of Nutrena feed.

Kulmer and Chics Dream, also took home the Super-Select first-place in reining. AQHA recognizes the top three Super-Select competitors in every class at the Adequan® Select World. Super-Select is recognition for exhibitors age 70 and over. Exhibitors winning the Super-Select division receive a plaque, and the achievement will appear on the official records of the horse and exhibitor.

Kulmer won the reserve world championship title with his American Quarter horse Dreamy Little Sailor. The sorrel gelding, sired by Magnum Chic Dream and out of Ejoy A Lena, was bred by Gay and Phillip Verrett of Conroe, Texas.

Reserve world champions received a prize package that included a custom-designed silver trophy; Montana Silversmiths buckle, courtesy of The American Quarter Horse Journal; a specially designed logoed jacket, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear; and a ribbon.

The Adequan® Select World is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse exhibitors ages 50 and over from around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. More than 1,090 entries from the United States, Canada, Costa Rica and Belgium are competing for 44 world championships at this year’s event, August 25 – September 2 at the Tri-State Fairgrounds in Amarillo.
