AustrianRHA Futurity: Two Futurity Championships for Nicola Cordioli – Open Futurity Champion L2 with the 3- and 4-year-old horses / Jeffrey Touroute-Thomas Futurity Champion L1 (3-y-o horses), Daniele Bocchieri (3-y-o horses)

17 horses had made it to the L2 and L1 final of the 3-year-old horses. In Level 2, the title was claimed by Italian Nicola Cordioli aboard Gunners Specialolena (Gunners Special Nite x Dolly Jac Olena). The mare bred and owned by Luigi Parise, scored a 221.5. Nicola Cordioli was 2014 Austrian Futurity Champion Open L4 , 4-year-old horses and 2017 NRHA European Co-Reserve Champion.

The Reserve Championship L2 went to Stefano Cerutti aboard Giannitti Domenico’s Great Taris Pine (Great Sun Burst x Lullaby of Melody). The stallion who was bred by his owner, scored a 220. Cerutti’s achievements include the 2012 and 2014 Austrian Futurity Reserve Championship L2 Open.

Jeffrey Touroute-Thomas and Reto Erdin’s AQHA mare Gunworks Finest (Gunwork x BR China Rose) plöaced third in Level 2 scoring a 219.5. This also was the Open Futurity Championship for him L1. Jeffrey Touroute-Thomas had already been leading after the go round in L1.  Gunworks Finest was bred by Reto Erding.

The Reserve Futurity Champion title Open L1 was earned by Elias Ernst aboard his mare  Big Lovely Shines (Just Gotta Shine x Cashing Big Chex). The two had given the second best performance of the go round already  and did even better in the final (215).  Zuzana Pacesova and  Andreas Kaiser’s Whiz Little Pep (Tombleweed Power x Whiz Like Hickory) placed third (208.5).

It was obviously Nicola Cordioli‘s Tag: after becoming Open Futurity Champion L2 with the 3-year-old horses, the Italian trainer also took the title with the 4-year-old horses. Aboard Piero Priori’s Ruf Cut Chex (Big Chex To Cash x CT Ruffian) he scored a  219 winning the L2 Open. The Palomino stallion which was bred by Werner and Linda Hermus in the States, was  2017 NRHA European Pre-Futurity Champion Non Pro L2 with his owner. Also Cordioli rode another horse into the L2 final: the mare Unwhizzjable (Star Spangled Whiz x Late Little Jaba) for  Pengo Andrea scoring a 217 which was 4th place.

3j_O__Cordioli_Gruppe_beide_ChampionsTwo riders tied for Reserve Futurity Championhonours: Fabio Polesel aboard his Black Gotta Gun (Dunit Gotta Gun x Be My Sweet Surprise) and Bogdan Czarnik aboard Agnieszka Olchawska’s Whiznmercedes (Cromed Out Mercedes x Covergirl Whiz, breeder Tim McQuay) – both scored a 217.5. With this stallion bred by Arena Alessandro, Polesel had been leading after the go round.

The Futurity Open Champion L1 came from Italy as well: Daniele Bocchieri aboard Gunnalicia (Gunstar x Dunnit With Cash). The mare which was bred by Massimo Rudari and is owned by Rosso Marco Umberto, scored a 218. Daniele Bocchieri was NRHA European Futurity Finalist 2017 with her.

The Reserve Futurity Championship L1 went to Nico Sicuro aboard Emma Villa’s AB Magnolia Taris (OT Taris San Peppy x Mare Made), who scored a 217. Magnolia Taris was a  2016 Austrian Futurity Non Pro Finalist L4 with Emma Villa in the saddle.

Alicja Kula and Katarzyna Roleska’s palomino mare Shining Whiz Olena (Shiner Olena x Shining Whiz) placed third (216). The two were Co-Champion EAC Limited Open this year.
